Prof. Christopher F. Baum

Professor of Economics & Social Work (Guest Lecturer)

Boston College

01/Biography

Christopher F. Baum is Professor of Economics and Social Work at Boston College and one of the most widely cited applied econometricians working with Stata. Over a career spanning more than three decades, he has helped shape how economists, social scientists and policy researchers translate theory into reproducible empirical practice. His teaching is known for being rigorous, example-driven and immediately applicable to real-world data problems.

02/Teaching approach

Chris believes econometrics is best learned by doing. His sessions combine live Stata demonstrations with published empirical papers, so students see how each technique is implemented and interpreted in practice.
